This study explored how school events can have developmental meaning and significance as life events. Meanings of school events were obtained through interviews with 19 university students. Through a qualitative analysis, it has been examined how those who regard school events at junior high school as influential involve school events at high school, and how those who regard school events at high school as influential had involved school events at junior high school. Five patterns of involvement in school events were identified. This finding suggests that the way students at junior high schools involve in school events might be related to the extent to which they devote themselves to the counterparts at high schools. Also, it suggests that group socialization theory (Harris, 1995) might be useful to explain why some school events have developmental meaning and significance in long-term.
