Meta-stereotypes refer to individuals'beliefs about how their group is viewed by a particular out-group. In recent years, research has shown that meta-stereotypes have a very important influence on intergroup relations. However, it finds that the previous studies have produced inconsistent results on the effects of meta-stereotypes. The importance of examing the nature of intergroup relationships and identification are discussed.
