This paper tries to make sence of the concept of ‘example (Beispiel)’ in Kant's moral theory and to demonstrate the meaning of the concept as a medium in Kant's conception of moral education. This concept appears in Kant's major writings and in particular Kant uses examples as the method of making objectively practical reason also subjectively practical. In this context this paper will reconsider Kant's moral education by examples and its structure, exploring the role that an example plays in Kant's argument about the practical principle, and examining the relation between ‘example’ and the term ‘archetype (Urbild)’.
