The purpose of this study is to suggest the effective lessons about 'proportion' by connecting up mathematical learning in primary school with learning in secondary school.First, we created new teaching materials using newspaper articles and geoboards, based on principles of developing teaching materials.Second, we developed a teaching method whereby students could link natural phenomena with developing a concept of 'proportion', based on principles of developing lessons.Finally, we demonstrated the validity of this approach through experimental lessons.
