特集1: 京都大学ブータン友好プログラム特集 = Special Issue 1: Contribution from the Kyoto Bhutan Friendship Program I visited Bhutan from 15th to 24th September 2015, and participated in elderly program. In the checkup questionnaire, I realized the main causes of elderly people's happiness and unhappiness were related with family, friends, and their health. I also visited some clinics and hospitals, and I noticed that one weak point of medical providing system in Bhutan is weak access to medical service due to its traffic difficulty, long distance to clinics and weak road condition. It's not easy to improve traffic condition, so alternative idea is needed to improve medical care system. I point out that important things are medical checkup and villagebased and relative-based community. It is often said that frequent checkup will be useful for detecting and preventing severe disease. Mutual cooperation in community is also very helpful for keeping one's health. Furthermore, bond of friendship in community is a great remedy to heal one's isolation and to make happiness. Mutual cooperation in the small community can sometimes offer primary medication, and this will overcome the serious medical access condition. Village-based and relative-based community, namely, Gemeinschaft, is very important for healthy life and happiness.
