Factors Affecting Women’s Career Formation: Through the Interview Research

The purpose of this paper is to study the factors that influence women's career development. The survey comprised 30 female respondents who have an experience with marriage and childbirth. Interviews (semi-structured in interview) were used as a research method. The respondents were divided into three life-course groups such as a keep working life-course, a reemployment life-course, and a full-time housewife life-course, according to whether they continued to work after marriage or having a child. The results of the life-courses’ comparison clarify the important factors influencing women's career development. These important factors include "family support", "working to achieve financial independence", "regular employment", "own desire for employment", "husband’s understanding and cooperation", "relatives’ understanding and cooperation". The study revealed that among the factors the most important one is women’s "own desire for employment". Therefore, it is critical to take into account such aspects as "raising women’s employment awareness" and "husband’s understanding and cooperation" to consider the measures for raising the employment rate of women in future.
