The purpose of this research is to discuss the present status and tasks of Matsumoto-version Shinshyu-type community school and clarify the "uniqueness of Matsumoto" in community school. The reason why the community school of Matsumoto City was taken up for discussion is as follows: In Matsumoto City, social education and community center activity, in particular, are carried out actively, and at present, the city is approaching the creation of new system for regional development and activity based on community center. Therefore, this research discusses the "uniqueness of Matsumoto" of the community school in association with that. Matsumoto City introduced the Shinshu-type community school. As its prerequisite, the activity of school support was organized based on community center and based on which community school was instituted. Therefore, the running of the community school of Matsumoto City is impossible without community center activity. The community school of Matsumoto City can function only when a good relationship between the community and school is established by school support project. At present, the school support program constitutes a very important part of regional development in connection with a new regional developed approached by the whole city. The author would like to discuss community school in connection with regional development based on community center, not only to grasp the community school as an education system for a mere open school.
