The Actual Situation and Problem of Care Worker Training in University

In this paper I tried to clarify the research trend, actual situation and problem of care worker training in university in Japan as part of the research on vocational education in higher education institutions. The main results of analysis are summarized as follows: 1. A large number of researches have been carried out into the curriculum standards for care worker training. Most researches, however, have not focused on the actual situation of care worker training in university. Moreover, existing research have not clarified the significance and justification of care worker training in university. 2. In recent years, some of teaching staff in care worker training course of university often make a comment on the significance and justification of care worker training in university. However, most of teaching staff's opinion lacks clarity. In other words, it is not necessarily clear what is the basis of their opinions. 3. From the above-mentioned facts one can say that the significance and justification of care worker training in university are cloudy at the present time. I must point out that job analysis of care worker and the survey of the needs for care worker who graduated from university of institutions and establishments for long-term care and their user are required to make the significance and justification of care worker trainihg in university clear.
